Good Morning Shedders,
I hope you are all well and being careful even if you have had the first vaccine. We are still waiting for ours but fingers crossed it won't be for too long. The new shed is up and it looks great. I sent pictures to most of you last week but apologies if you didn't get them. If you are passing don't forget to have a look. The new stainless steel table has arrived, it has a cupboard and three drawers as well as being on lockable wheels. We will be able to move the all important tea urn anywhere we want. If you are walking past the Shed check out the flowerbeds because the bulbs are popping up. We have a beautiful display of daffodils and bluebells. I know this has been a very difficult lockdown for many but, fingers crossed, we will have good news soon. Just keep thinking of our wonderful reunion. I am thinking of you all so take care and stay safe Belinda PS The Shed phone is not taking messages at the moment but please feel free to call.

Hello Shedders,
I am delighted to report that many of our senior Shedders have already had the first dose of the vaccine whoop whoop. Thank you to all the surgeries involved and their staff. I have spoken to several people and they are saying that it is a relief to have had it. If you are still waiting, well, we must be patient and our turn will come. Remember that even if you have had the vaccine it is very important to continue being super careful. The awning for the front of the Shed has arrived and the new shed should be arriving next week. When we do eventually open we will have plenty of room and cover from the Welsh weather. I hope all of you are taking care and looking after yourselves during these difficult times. Thinking of you all Belinda Good Morning Shedders,
News hot off the press is that one of our Shedders is going to receive the vaccine next Saturday. Whoop whoop! As far as I know this is the first Shedder in our area to be contacted so sit tight as you could be the next person to receive a telephone call. I know many of you feel things are moving slowly but be patient for a little while longer as staff at the surgery are contacting people. They can only do what they can with the number of vaccines they receive. If you are on Facebook look for Cwmtawe Cluster as they give a regular update on the situation. If any other Shedders receive that all important call please let me know as I can spread the word to keep spirits up. Paul and I are in the sixties group so, hopefully, by the Spring we will all have had our first dose. We may be able to open but I will have to take advice on that. Some of you may be on your second dose by then, how exciting is that? So, stay positive and stay safe because things are improving. Thinking of you all Belinda Good Morning Shedders,
I am writing to wish you all a Happy New Year. This year has not been the best for anyone but, hopefully, good times are coming. The vaccines are on their way guys, hooray! I am sure they can not come quick enough for you, the wait is almost over, just take care in the meantime. We will not be able to open until we have had the vaccines. I hope you are all safe and well and enjoying the dry weather, even if it is freezing brrrrrrr Although the Shed has been closed we have been doing some work. (We will soon have to call our sheds Shed 1 and Shed 2.) The base for a new shed has been put down and shed 2 should be with us in about 3-4 weeks. It is quite big so it will give us much more space when we do open. I have also ordered a cheerful terracotta awning for Shed 1 which should arrive in about a week. This will give us protection from the weather rain or sunshine. With a matching parasol it will look like the Mediterranean on Mond Corner. I know many of you are finding lockdown extremely difficult but hold fast as the situation will improve. Good days are coming but we will just have to make sure we all stay safe for now. I am thinking of you STAY SAFE Belinda Ho, Ho, Ho, Shedders
Christmas is upon us and what a year it has been. Thank you all for supporting the Shed and each other during this very difficult time, you have all been fantastic. There is light at the end of the tunnel so continue to be strong and support each other until this is over. Good times are on their way. If you want a chat at any time please get in touch by email or 'phone 07395138201. I wish you all a happy Christmas and a joyous New Year, hopefully, 2021 will be better. With a bit of luck the weather will improve as well. Stay safe until I see you in 2021 Belinda Well Shedders, we've managed to have some wonderful weeks post-lockdown with our socially distanced gatherings. As you can see from some of the pictures below, we've been laughing and working come rain or shine and it's been fantastic.
We've stocked up on PPE and have been maintaining social distancing and even added a new canopy to shelter us from the rain. Stay safe, and if anyone would like to get in touch, you can always call. Love, Belinda. Hello Shedders,
We thought we'd give you a sneak peak of the next issue of the Men's Shed magazine, and on the cover is our very own Brian! From the Mond, to modelling, you go Brian! Hi Shedders,
Last Friday we met at the Shed half expecting Storm Ellen to join us and make it a washout but it didn't happen, although it was very windy. At one point a chair or two almost ended up on the roundabout but I moved quicker than I have in a long time and retrieved them. We did have a few spots of rain, then it dried up and we sat outside. It was a lovely couple of hours. This Friday we are meeting again 10.30-12.30, if anyone wants to come along please let me know so I can add your name to the register. If you have any concerns about the weather on Friday morning just give me a call on 07395138201. Looking forward to seeing you, I will be next to the bubbling urn. Belinda Good Evening Shedders,
We had a great opening last Friday, it was lovely to see everyone and hear the banter between you all. Just to remind you we will be at the Shed this Friday 10.30-12.30 if anyone else wants to put their name down. However, if it is raining we will not be allowed to open due to lack of inside space and the social distancing rule. I know that makes it awkward but please call me on 07395138201 Friday morning if you are not sure. Future openings will be: Friday 28th August 10.30-12.30 Wednesday 2nd September 10.30-12.30 Wednesday 9th September 10.30-12.30 The change to a Wednesday is to give everyone a chance to visit the Shed as some can only come on a Wednesday. We will then look at the situation and decide if it is possible to open twice a week. We must remember we are still in difficult times, the Welsh weather doesn't help but if the Shed can open then the tea urn will be bubbling. Stay safe Belinda Hi Shedders,
What a great day we had at the Shed, it was lovely to see everyone again. The locals seemed to appreciate us with all the tooting, the odd shout out and people stopping on the pavement and canal path for a chat. It certainly looked as if a party was going on. If you would like to come next Friday please let me know, it would be great to see you. See you soon, the urn (we've upgraded from the kettle) is bubbling. Belinda |
